Review of Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018) by Bily T — 16 Aug 2018

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies! surprisingly wasn't a bad movie like how I thought it was going to be? I wasn't looking forward to seeing this movie because of the TV show this came from named Teen Titans Go! which is a reboot/ spin-off of the Teen Titans series, the original series was a great action cartoon, new/ current show is really bad and it's sadly continuing after this movie.

I was surprised to find out that people said the movie wasn't bad, even major haters of the Teen Titans Go show seem to have liked this movie.

A good story and different to how I thought it was going to be, the cast members are pretty good and some interesting choices, good action sequences, decent animation though can't really decide what style to stick with for consistency, the characters are a bit of a mix bag, the music is okay, and the jokes are hit and miss.

As I stated, the jokes are hit and miss, some were funny, but some really are pushing it like fart jokes, and some things that shouldn't be in a kids movie that I'm surprised not a single parent as complaint about, there's also the other thing, they name the villain Slade when his actual name is Deathstroke, they called him Deadpool at one point and they even make jokes about killing the other DC superheroes, so you can make jokes of killing heroes and calling the villain Deadpool, but you can't use the actual name being Deathstroke?

Another issue is that the animation keeps changing styles for some scenes and it's hard to really enjoy the animation when it keeps changing, when it's a CGI animated movie putting in some 2D for maybe like one scene or to give one of their characters some life, yeah it's fine, but if you're doing often in the film, it's a bit of a problem, I'll say it's good to see a fully 2D animated movie on the big screen again.

And my last issue is to do with the story and characters, not everything about the story and characters is bad but some things are pretty standard, cliched and predictable as we've seen characters like this before, and what was I expecting from a movie on Teen Titans Go of all things?

Overall Teen Titans Go! To the Movies! is a decent film, I don't love it, I don't hate it, some things are good, some things are in the middle, and some things are quite bad. If you're huge fan of the Teen Titans Go TV show, than you'll get enjoyment from this movie, if not than maybe it's okay to skip this film and maybe wait until it airs on TV or something.

I give Teen Titans Go! To the Movies! a 5 out of 10, not good, not bad, pretty much in the middle, I will say however the mid credits scene is pretty interesting like what does it mean?
