Were the critics watching pornography to not have liked this? Tears of the sun is a catchy and strange title and that is what caught my attention. It is another great film from Antone Fuqua whose films like Training Day and King Arthur(2004) have thrilled me a lot. Tears of the Sun is a rare action packed dramatic movie with great music, incredible tension build ups and a bold and epic portrayal of torture. This film does succeed on places where Blood Diamond(2006) fails. Bruce Willis gives a mature and poignant performance. Monica Bellucci is also good and she is really sexy here. I have seen her in only one film, Shoot-em-up(2006),a film that I would be happy to give a zero. The supporting cast that includes Cole Hauser is really good. Also they don't always use the loud explosions in battle scenes as there are a lot of action scenes where the army men use silencers on their guns, a little no to the noise pollution.
I am really sick and tired of RT now a days. The reason is that I feel a lot of isolation and loneliness when I use this site. I have been thinking of quitting RT for long. The only thing that keeps me going is the good films that I see. Tears of the Sun would be one of the last reviews that I write in RT.
This film doesn't always try to remain like the same old American silly patriotic war movies. This revolves around a rescue team that chews and obeys every order that is thrown at them and then they realize the humanitarian values and decides to rescue a group of Nigerian people who the American Govt. denied refuge.
