Review of Tears of the Sun (2003) by Jim C — 31 Aug 2008
Argueably one of Bruce Willis's BEST films ever! Tears Of The Sun tells the story of an elite team of US Navy soldiers who are sent back into an assignment following their return to base on a previous mission immediately.
They are handed the task of going into warzone Nigeria to locate and evacuate an American International doctor, played by Monica Bellucci, two nuns and a priest who in the end refuses to leave, leaving Willis in a tough situation to act.
In addition, the doctor will only leave on ONE condition, that is to bring along with them 70+ odd Nigerian people to safety. Willis is left to contemplate on sticking by his mission or to follow his instincts to do the right thing.
Having witnessed an entire village massacred by the merging troops, he makes up his mind to bring the people out of danger, at the expense and with the capacity of his team of soldiers of about eight against an army of hundreds.
Definitely a MUST watch for all Willis fans out there!
