Review of Team America: World Police (2004) by Chris D — 25 May 2011

It was alright, I did enjoy the music especially (who knew a tune sung by Kim Jong-il would be good?). The plot was purposely run-of-the-mill so the audience would focus instead on the satire, but I found it really lacking when the satire itself was weak. At 98 minutes, the film still felt too long to me, it's predictable ending coming far too late. I think watching it after so many years of U.S. meddling in the Middle East makes it leave a more bitter taste than if I'd seen it in 2004. Maybe we can find a middle ground between being the "World Police" and "F.A.G".

I've never found whole episodes of South Park to be funny, so a whole film worth of Parker and Stone's comedy wasn't much different. For serious fans of their TV, though, there's no doubt this is worth seeing. Otherwise, it was just OK.
