Review of Team America: World Police (2004) by Jesse O — 06 Nov 2012

I'm not a big fan of South Park. Not because of the fact that it's bad, because it isn't. There are some episodes that are satirical gold, and there are episodes that are just curse words as comedy, and if that's all you have then I'm sorry, but that's not good TV.

Again they have their moments where they are the best satirists on TV. This film is an example of that. They still keep the raunchy and, potentially, offensive humor but put it in a different context and a different style.

So it's safe to say, that even if this film is 8 years old, this is still hilarious and very satirical stuff. The movie does run too long, this film should've been over in an hour and 20 minutes, but the movie is a constant barrage of comedy.

Perhaps they didn't pace the film perfectly because I was ready for it to be wrapping up, only for the movie to go on for 15 more minutes, but I can't complain much. The writing is top-notch stuff.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, perhaps not at their best, but close to their best. The songs are by far the best part of the film, parodying everything from montages, over the top action movies and their cheesy rock songs, the montage where everyone is at their worst while sad music plays.

It's really top-notch stuff and it might actually be the best thing about the entire film. Not much else to say other than this, this film is great and hilarious. Runs too long, but that doesn't stop from being a great flick.
