Review of Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999) by Dave C — 30 Jan 2008
Weird movie. I'm not sure if I liked it or if I would never watch it again. It's a bit of a teenage psychological thriller that's so quirky and strange that it's almost hard to see the characters as real.
Mrs. Tingle comes off as a deranged lunatic who's dark and manic style of teaching is scaring off the students. Helen Mirren's performance here makes her come as as deranged and manic as her character.
We end up with the kids taking her hostage, which lays the foundation for the ongoing relationship drama and twisted psychological games that begin to drive everyone crazy.
