Review of Tea with Mussolini (1999) by Jane H — 03 Aug 2006
I have wante dto see it almost forever and it didn't disappoint. What made ti was the cast. The Two Dames :) are joined by host of others (including Cher) to make a wonderful motley crew of english and americans exiled by mussolini.
The film isn't without flaws, inspite being a comedy it could be said that everyone side steps tragedy a little to neatly but I must admit I loved it. It made me laugh and it left me with that warm and fuzzy feeling! Maggie Smith and Judi Dench stole the show for me.
I have to admit, it left me a little feeling a little ignorant and encouraged me to read a bit more around Mussolini and his politics so that has to be a good thing :).
