Review of Taxidermia (2006) by Richard S — 01 Nov 2007
Hair-raising stuff and certainly not for the faint-hearted, queasy or easily offended. Even if it weren't such a fantastic, funny, intriguing and downright gutsy piece of film-making it would be a box ticking of everything that was going to shock, horrify or repulse the average cinema-goer. And that should always be commended.
Nominally it's some sort of study of the inversion/permutation of body fetishism/pathology of three generations of men. However, I have seen reviews discussing its political and allegorical significances. I don't know enough history of this area to confirm that. But if you want something utterly unique and you don't mind jeopardising your dinner, this is a cert!
