Review of Taxidermia (2006) by Rita V — 18 Jan 2008
Awesome, like some living breathing collision between Jeunet&Caro and the work of Damien Hirst, the film is visually open in the extreme, making recent american shock horrors like "hostel" look absurd and cheap by comparison.
Nothing is sacred here and amidst this generational tale of 3 men there's some comedy in good measure too, though you may find yourself feeling tremendously guilty for the things you find funny. Brave visual movie not intended for the weak of stomach, but there's beauty to be found among the entrails if you're open to it.
8¬) One of the most challenging movies to watch since "Salo".
