Review of Taxidermia (2006) by Emily K — 09 Sep 2010
Certainly one of the most grotesque and flat-out revolting movies I've ever seen (which is saying something), but it's hard to see its repulsive bravado as going for mere shock value when the filmmaking is so sharp and refined.
The cinematography and production design are superb, which elevates it to the level of some kind of operatic ugliness. Definitely not for all tastes, but a fascinating cinematic oddity for the open-minded.
