Review of Taxi Driver (1976) by Ian R — 24 Aug 2012
Ok, this is my third attempt at reviewing this.
Taxi driver is a good movie, yes, I just had different expectations. I thought it would be like a hitman movie but its a drama.
DRAMA.
Supposedly the taxi driver, travis, is slowly loosing his mind but I just didnt see that. I saw a taxi driver who was seriously disturbed, trying to find a place for himself.
Its good, robert de nero is fantastic, as is the rest of the cast.
My real problem with this is that it to me seems confused with its overall message.
It starts out trying to be a "grim on the streets of nyc" story and then it mixes in a little political drama and finally goes back to its original plot when travis meets a teen prostitute. it seems the last twenty minutes or so seems forced into the movie to add action.
Overall I liked it, confused about it, but it was well made and good.
