Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by John D — 05 Jan 2015
Simply one of the most iconic Scorsese films. Or should we say in American cinema. I could never see another character like the young De Niro did as Travis the taxi driver / "anything he wants to do with his life" and I love it.
Travis is like a psychopath with hopes of being "not alone" in his life. He sees the opportunity of having a relationship with a girl that he wanted yet he can't handle the situation well.
He want's to do something in his life and he wants to change it. In short, this film is all about the character itself. It focuses more on the hardships and the struggles of a certain character who wants to attain something and this film is that example.
The dialogue was just great. Scorsese did a good job with it. It's like guys having cool yet clever conversations. Has really a violent theme with disturbing images. And that jazz background perfectly fits with it.
A must own Blu-ray with the re-mastered version. Definitely a 4 out of 5 stars.
