Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Ruby H — 27 Sep 2012
There's not much that I can say about this iconic film that hasn't already been said by people who know more. Just a couple of notes that I think should be pointed out. This is a New York movie, a long gone New York that like a wild and dangerous animal in its cage looks strangely attractive. This feeling is brilliantly supplemented by Bernard Herrmann's unforgettable score.
Secondly, in this time and age its really good to see films getting the treatment they deserve. I own the 2007 2-disc Special Edition. This comes with tons of excellent extras (documentaries, featurettes, photo galleries, the original screenplay and more) plus 4 high quality black and white postcards.
This was always an 'essential' film to own but this R2 Special Edition release is the one to go for.
