Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Grant K — 18 Jan 2013
This will sound horribly pretentious, but if you don't think this is a five star film, you just don't get it. It took me a year and two viewings, (and now countless more now) to understand the multiple eccentricities and layers to this fantastic film.
This is the reason Scorsese *IS* Scorsese, and contains DeNiro's best performance. An existentialist essay on life that has influenced multiple films that also stands the test of time, and offers rewards to the viewer even the tenth time around.
