Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Aidan S — 05 Feb 2014
A truly timeless piece of work, what makes Taxi Driver a masterpiece is its ability to portray a disturbingly sympathetic sociopath. What makes him so is the fact that we have all faced an existential crisis much in the same way Travis has.
He is a lonely and pathetic human being without one iota of how to interact with those even within his own personal social circle. Everyone he meets can tell he's on the border of going over the edge.
Travis only wants to help and know people, yet he is shunned and pushed off.
