Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Faizal B — 14 Sep 2015
Martin Scorsese perfectly blends thought-provoking themes with social criticism in Taxi Driver. Making it a film that would be studied for ages due to its' immense focus on society and subtle storytelling.
DeNiro makes it a brilliant character study that takes us into the mind of a man who wants change even if it means resorting to violence. DeNiro certainly owned the role and it is clearly evident that he was committed.
Taxi Driver is may just be Scorsese's most important piece in his large filmography, largely due to its' tour de force performance from Robert DeNiro and most specially its' powerful thrust into societal issues.
An absolute must-see for any moviegoer.
