Review of Tarzan (2013) by Jake V — 08 May 2014
Tarzan isn't bad, but it won't blow you away either.
I liked the animation, personally, because the motion capture seemed very clever.
The 3D was the best thing about the movie for me. The film was actually in 3D and the jungle looks great with vines and apes popping out at you all the time.
If you see this movie, go in 3D. its well worth the extra £1.50 or so.
However - there were bits in the story that ruined it. theres something about space and meteorites that turn it into Avatar and make it really dull. Also, some of the characters (particularly the villain) had the personalities of a self checkout system. Another worrying thing is my clan were the only people in the screening.
CONCLUSION.
Tarzan is decent. The animation works generally well throughout and the 3D worked fantastically well. But it is really dull and it is forgettable.
If you were going to take kids to see this, take thim to see Godzilla - it looks way better and no one will be scarred. But it's still nowhere near as bad as Escape From Planet Earth, The Croods or Free Birds - all 3 of which i'd avoid at all costs.
