Review of Tarnation (2003) by Joel K — 28 Jan 2008
This movie is quite difficult to watch. It is basically a bunch of home videos made by the main character between age 12 and 31. The concept is clever and it is interesting to see the evolution of all the characters in this story.
However, what killed it for me was how there were some contradictions and some clues that show that not everything is true in this movie, and that some parts are totally made up but we are made to believe that all is true A to Z.
In a few words I would say this movie is a low-budget artsy biographical montage of home video clips made on I-movie. I thought this movie was going to touch me profoundly but it did not do anything.
