Review of Tarnation (2003) by Ed F — 15 Nov 2010
Caouette clearly has a beloved agenda, to explore his fractured family and the illness that has affected it, but the focus becomes blurred to make way for what can only be identified as a vanity project for the director.
He features predominantly throughout the film and his choice of camera angles and music directly affect the audiences reactions and emotions. Don't get me wrong it's a great documentary with an impressively modest budget, but it becomes more a film about Jonathan Caouette than his families illness.
