Review of Tarantula (1955) by Bobbi W — 17 Apr 2004
I just had to re-watch Tarantula. Last time I watched it was in 1980, when I was only four years old. This movie's the reason why I'm afraid of spiders nowadays, haha. I'm still in hope re-watching the movie helps to cure my fears, but I doubt it.
:D One thing is sure, I'll never forget this movie, even though it's quite some ridiculous story. But the shocking parts partly do work. I just had to laugh about the different scene cuts though.
A new scene almost always starts with opening a door and ends with closing a door. It's so funny to see how limited people's views still were in 1955. There are so many ways to open and close scenes, you don't always need a door to do it, haha.
I'm also amazed to think there was no plastic surgery in showbiz at that time. Some people just had way too perfect facial features in the past. I guess they still did most of the part with the help of lots of make-up.
