Review of Tape 407 (2012) by Jinx C — 14 Jul 2012
It's a decent movie, but after the plane crash, not much happens that keeps you wanting to watch the whole way through. The monster attack scenes were few and far apart. The dialogue scenes dragged on for far too long, and there was too much running and walking.
Not enough action. In fact, I would much rather consider this movie a drama/tragedy than a horror. It does have a few scary moments... a couple scenes made me jump outta my pants and the ending left my jaw dropped for about 2 straight minutes due to how gruesome and shocking it was, but other than that, the rest of the movie is just the directors trying to get you to feel bad for the characters.
That, they did a good job on. I generally cared for the safety of most of the characters, although some were annoying. The dialogue scenes were probably what hurt this movie the most. The acting was good, and the dialogue was extremely realistic.
.. but that was the problem. The dialogue scenes were so realistic, they came across as tons of babbling snore-fests that I got very tired of watching. Still, i've always had a special place for "government testing gone wrong" and found footage movies in my heart, so I think this movie is worth a watch and a few good scares.
It's only truly good during the first 20-25 minutes though. The rest is very average.
