Review of Tape (2001) by Ann D — 12 Jun 2007
Awesome dialogue about three former friends stuck in a hotel room where nasty secrets from the past are vetted out. The talent and skill of the four people involved in this film: Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, Uma Thurman, and Richard Linklater is totally laid bare here.
You get the sense from this film that Linklater could write for the theater quite successfully. He has such a gift for creating and developing characters almost exclusively through dialogue. This isn't an important film- and feels more like a side-project but it's just so skillfully made.
