Review of Tanner Hall (2011) by Priscilla B — 13 Jan 2012
There was some elements I did like about this film, but mostly a lot that I really hated. It was a pretty messy film, and at times it's exploitive in an uncomfortable way. These elements didn't need to be there and it is obvious that something wasn't fully discussed with the actors when getting involved with this film perhaps.
Either that, or they just didn't mind it being the way it was, which reminds me of how perverted hollywood really can be. Even the moments where we are supposed to feel something for these characters, they seem to get washed away by the unlikeliness of how it was all paced and put together.
I do feel bad for Rooney Mara being apart of this film as well as some of her earlier films she was involved with before "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". It does feel like another one of those projects she just took to get work and didn't really care to read over before getting involved.
This could have been a great film if it's approach and writing was better and without the unnecessary elements that are sure to be controversial here. Also, again this another movie where the moral of the story comes from a mile away: grow up.
