Review of Tank Girl (1995) by Tyler J — 13 Nov 2007
â??This comet came crashing into the earth. BAM! Total devastation. No celebrities, no cable TV, *no water*! It hasnâ??t rained in 11 years. Now, 20 people gotta squeeze into the same bathtub. So it ainâ??t all bad.â??
Off-beat, low-budget comedy set in a dystopic future Australia. Mad max with a punk rock fashion sense. It's a strange movie. Refreshingly so. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Especially not the plot. The entire cast knows how weird everything looks and make comments to that effect. It drags in places. But the cast is enjoying themselves and that made the movie enjoyable. Not a great movie by any stretch, but it is a lot of fun. I may be dumber for watching it. O well.
Will it influence my own stories? I knew that before I watched it. If I had a harem, tank girl and jet girl would be my first choices. Ozzie accents are sexy. I'm not a big anthropomorphised (sp?) kangaroo, with the genes of a cop, so it wouldn't work out.
Walk softly and carry a big gun.
