Review of Tank Girl (1995) by Gustav W — 05 Jun 2011
A pretty much generic comic book film during the 90s. Over-the-top as they should be, but misses the mark too often. Tank Girl is an interesting character, but way too campy things are going on all the time to drag you into it, and it mostly turns into farce. The cartoon transitions are brilliant, but only make you wish the rest of the film were as stylish instead of the bland mess you're being served.
We do get to see Naomi Watts in an early role, but the film is surprisingly full of other well known actors as well. Malcolm McDowell helps keep spirits up, doing his generic, psycho mastermind, and Ice-T and Iggy Pop in some literally barking mad roles.
