Review of Tangerines (2013) by Sheldon R — 12 Feb 2015
While none of the other Oscar nominees for best foreign pictures are Goliaths, this one is David, the only nominee without a US distribution deal per our host at the Christopher Smith Theater. Someone should fix this.
As the Soviet Union dissolves, rival Georgian and Chechen armies wage war, embroiling the remnants of a small Estonian enclave within the conflict .The war comes to their front door as wounded soldiers from both sides are taken in.
There are fine dramatic performances from the cast members of this Estonian and Georgian coproduction.
