Review of Tangerine (2015) by Wayne M — 11 Mar 2016
Tangerine is a remarkable experience. Exuberant, wild, funny sad. Full of life. The entire film was shot on an iPhone and it looks remarkable. Street level shots of the glowing Los Angeles underbelly are quite stunning.
It takes place on Christmas Eve in West Hollywood as we follow the lives of transgender street workers. Alexandra and Sin-Dee are on a mission and this energy fused film captures the travails of their lives in a sad, funny and fascinating way.
There is a burning honesty to this film. Often very funny it is also sadly real. A unique experience.
