Review of Tangerine (2015) by J1Train — 25 Jul 2015
A small triumph of empathy. An intensely original, absorbing piece of indie filmmaking. The cast is terrific, especially Mya Taylor as Alexandra. Shot on an iPhone, it looks made-for-Instagram and sometimes has a music-video quality, but is always interesting to look at.
Roger Ebert said the movies are "a machine that generates empathy," and this is one stylish machine.
