Probably my favorite of all the Itami films. Very funny, but Itami uses many of the same actors in his movies. It seems rather random but everything is connected somehow, and although the erotica in the middle may catch you off guard, its typical of Itami's works.
Itami often pokes fun at Japanese traditions (other films like The Funeral, etc) so keep that in mind and don't take anything too seriously (although, chances are you wouldn't anyway).
