Review of Tampopo (1985) by Stephani S — 26 Jun 2009

I'm...speechless. The main plot is done very well but sometime the randomly interspersed interludes seem to be added on "just because". The interludes are amusing but kind of redundant...

Thing is I can't completely say "It's bad" because the main plot is fairly well done--sort of like a foodie version of Shane but the biggest distraction is the subplots from hell what with the mafia and his girlfriend, that weirdo granny and that insensitive asshole of a husband.

I saw it without subtitles--and you know I thought it would make more sense when it's translated. But after peeking at the translation script ...it makes even less sense.

You should watch it just to experience it.
