Review of Tampopo (1985) by Scott R — 18 Nov 2017
The first thing I noticed was how stylized this movie is. It almost reminds me a little of Tarantino. This movie is very funny at times. It caught me by surprise how funny it was. The movie almost plays out as a funny anime show with the characters being very colorful and flamboyant. They even use playful audio effects like in anime.
Weird sexual food fetishes, learning how to make perfect noodles, how to eat spaghetti properly. This movie about food has it all for food lovers.
Very interesting story and really nice to see other characters stories interweave with the main one. I've never really seen a movie quite like this with all it's randomness. But it was very charming and funny.
Overall, this has to be one of the best movies about food.
