Review of Tammy (2014) by Dave R — 27 Aug 2014
Here's an idea for a movie. Let's get that gal who is really funny in that other movie with a bunch of other gals right? Then we will put her with a few other big name actors, and it won't matter if our story makes any sense, or is even funny because we have all of these names in it.
Well now that is what Tammy is all about. How this movie has pulled in 80 million bucks this year just shows the drawing power of Melissa McCarthy. There are about six scenes in this movie that you could completely cut out and lose no sense of the story.
Plus you go through this entire movie and then all of a sudden Dan Akroyd shows up? Why? There's no mention of him almost throughout the entire movie as someone who matters at all, and then bam, there he is and about 90 seconds of screen time.
Whatever he made for that one scene, I want to do with my life. The movie isn't without any laughs, just without common sense.
