Review of Tammy (2014) by Mignon M — 13 Mar 2016
Okay, so, Tammy was not a people-pleaser, but I watched it again and I like it. Melissa is a favorite--onscreen and offscreen--and I get why she (and Susan Sarandon) took this project. "Life imitates art," and if viewers seek messages in their movies, this film is chock full.
I like Sarandon playing a grandmother and I like McCarthy playing a lower stuck in a rut. We've all been there--when the "downs" of life just trounce us--and I think both actresses hit the mark.
If you're not looking for complete McCarthy, this movie is watchable.
