Review of Tamasha (2015) by Edmund C — 08 Dec 2015
Super. In the middle it turned slightly avant garde. At first I thought the censors had snipped out something. Then scenes started repeating, and I later realized they were depicting the repetitiveness of routine; ie.
Ranbir's character wakes up, puts on a tie in front of his mirror, wipes his car window, sets off for work, etc. His character Ved aka Don is well written, and even more well-executed! Tamasha's message is one of Self-Actualization, something I also seek and prioritize in life.
''Good Morning sir, is my tie ok now, sir?" (like hello?!) Spending years and years in the Corporate world where conforming is rewarded and individuality is smirked at, I realized I have suppressed much.
Sometimes I forget who Edmund is. Sometimes I'm still discovering. And last night as I drove home thinking about this movie, I imagined myself digging hard through the layers of suppressed identity, yelling to myself, "Hello, hello, are you still in there somewhere?".
And other times, when I'm Laughing-Out-Loud with my friends, I'm reminded that he's still inside there, and that it's never too late to become myself. Go see Tamasha :).
