Review of Tamara Drewe (2010) by Vicky W — 23 Mar 2011
This is good fun..
Overall, the film is on the slim side in terms of story and character development but the cast manage to elevate the material making it a lot more enjoyable.
Arterton is on good form up front, using her charms to drive the film forward, she looks absolutely gorgeous. The supporting cast bring the funny, complimenting our lead, with Roger Allam playing a good sleaze and Tamsin Greig subtly tugging at the heart strings as a put upon wife. My favourites were Jessica Barden and Charlotte Christie as the troublesome school girls who are our eyes and ears into this world, Barden in particular is very funny with her dialogue delivery.
Nothing groundbreaking, but lots of fun...
