Review of Tamara Drewe (2010) by Gayle M — 29 Apr 2011
I enjoyed the Posy Simmonds episodes as they appeared in the Guardian, and this is a good likeness. Quite funny, with some good aperçus about class and manners. It suffers slightly from being so close to the original, as that had to have cliffhanger 'hooks' each week.
This leads to some hiccups in the narrative flow, and a sense that the story doesn't quite flow naturally in movie form. But Posy is a thoroughly good egg, and as a comedy of modern manners it hits the spot.
