Review of Tamara Drewe (2010) by Mick J — 23 Aug 2011
I have always been a fan of British romantic comedies. But this film lacked charm, romance was replaced by a string of sordid casual relationships, and there were no laughs. It was a bitter disappointment.
The Tamara Drewe character had such blatantly bad taste in men (why would such an attractive young lady even dream of climbing into bed with the slime-ball Nicholas Hardiment is beyond me) and you got to a point by the end of the film where you felt that she did not deserve to find happiness with the kind-hearted Andy Cobb.
With the exception of seeing the gorgeous figure of Gemma Arterton climbing over a gate in tight denim jeans, this film is highly forgettable and will not be on my watch-again list.
