Review of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) by John S — 25 Jan 2014
Ok so this movie was hilarious! That is if you have the same humor that I do. If you liked Anchorman (2004), see it. If you like movies where grown men act like complete idiots and the most bizarre situations occur out of nothing...see it. My point is Will Ferrell is well exactly that...Will Ferrell.
This is the story of Ricky Bobby ( "a man with two first names") and his childhood dream of driving fast and what happens when it comes true. Ricky Bobby is at the top of his game. He is dominating NASCAR and has a super hot wife and two "winner" kids not to mention a huge house and tons of money and fame. Well things begin to go downhill when his manager, who has had a grudge against him for a long time since his father liked Ricky better than him, decides to put Ricky in his place. He has a rather...well I won't spoil that for you...but he has a French racer come and take over Ricky's spot and he kicks Ricky off the team. Well he goes back to his roots and gets his life in order thanks to some help from his mom/dad(sorta)/and his old assistant. With the help of his old pitcrew, his old assistant/his "woman", and some unlikely help from an old teammate will he be able to win the Talladega 500? Or will he be out of NASCAR forever? If you like the man-child comedy and super goofy over-the-top antics of films like Dodgeball, Anchorman and other films of this nature, you will like Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
