Review of Tall Tale: The Unbelievable Adventure (1995) by Bobby D — 29 Jul 2010
A film that should have been a classic in the mythical tradition like TIME BANDITS , but unfortunately this film isn't as nearly as clever. It has a lot of things going for it, good cast, Swayze is great as Pecos but the overall direction of the film falls flat.
The story itself is a parallel to the John Henry story of machine vs man, in this case powerful railroad corporation destroying small farm towns and also science replacing myth as the old west moves into the 20th century.
Again there's a lot of great subtext but it all gets lost.
