Enjoyable until after the James Brown concert... starting with the scene where Hughes became his mgr, the tension was gone and the scenes were dead.
Changed from 3.5 to 3 stars after realizing that the first half of the movie (which I enjoyed) followed well-worn cliches and succeeded due to the actors inhabiting those cliches. The second half of the movie, which in some ways tried to broke away from cliche, I thought foundered without that support.
