Review of Talk to Me (2007) by Shon H — 26 Feb 2008
Hom hum biopic about one of America's first shock jocks. I never really believe Don Cheadle in the role of Petey Greene. Chiwetel Ejiofor on the other hand does not disappoint as Petey's friend and then later rival Dewey Hughes.
The action is far too cartoony and superficial to be taken seriously. Watch the extras to check out a beautiful scene with Martin Sheen that was cut from the film. The scene ends rather awkwardly in the original.
Now it makes far more sense. Hamiltonians should get a chuckle out of seeing the corner of John and King at the centre of Gore Park transformed into downtown DC. And unlike Hairspray (boo!) we get thanked in the credits.
Thank you! I learned about a media personality I knew nothing about, but the film in the end didn't rise above being a TV movie of the week.
