Review of Talk to Me (2007) by Sean P — 30 Mar 2008
Don Cheadle stars in this the true story of a 1960's washington shock jock at a regional African American radio station who, despite being an ex-con who is hot on the mike, became the voice of a people during a time of political and social unease and unrest.
Cheadle plays petey greene, the man who inspired a social revolution before, during and after the assassination of martin luther king jr, simply by being a and *the* voice for those who thought and seemingly didnt have one.
Cheadle is charismatic and assured in the lead role but it is Chiwetel Ejiofor who impresses most, playing slightly against type, building on his impressive turn in American Gangster Ejiofor plays dewey hughes, a man who spotted and begrudgingly opened up the airwaves for Greene to become the star he was.
as his manager he saw everything his audience couldnt. good film, well worth a watch.
