Review of Talk to Me (1996) by Brian H — 15 Jul 2008
This could have been a typical rise to the top drama, but there were some interesting turns here and there. For instance, the cliche of the radio finally giving the ex-con a chance, didn't happen quite as soon as you would expect.
So in that sense I found there to be some interesting original twists. Don Cheadle is fantastic and I really could just listen to him talk for two hours. There was a strange twenty minutes or so in the middle of the film that seemed like an excuse to just explore a specific time and place in history - an that took a bit away from these characters' journeys.
But bookending that was an interesting and moving story that we've seen many times before, except here was a unique and fresh approach.
