Review of Talk to Her (2002) by Austin D — 31 Aug 2008
My second Almodovar film. This, like Volver, was a pretty mediocre film. I did like it a little more than Volver though. It was better written and had a much more interesting story (and characters). But what keeps me coming back to Almodovar is the look of his films. They are beautiful pieces of art, a treat for the eyes.
Almodovar's films are always like soap operas, but really good soap operas. And that can kind of turn me off to them at times. I always "like" his films but never love them.
My next Almodovar is Bad Education, and I think it'll be my favorite of his because of its intriguing story and one of my favorite actors, Gael Garcia Bernal.
