Review of Talk to Her (2002) by Steven B — 02 Feb 2009
Pedro Almodovar? I'm still at a loss. Actresses love him. They fight to work with him. Women adore his films. But he creeps me the eff out. This time, the Muse-Protagonists are as impassive as can be: comatose! And they are subject to the worship (read: objectification/fetishization/molestation) of Hangdog Men.
Whenever the plot, motivated by skewed desires, hits a snag, there is always a nifty coincidence. Am I wrong to question why a dancer's shower stall forms an unprotected adjunct to a psychiatrist's waiting vestibule.
..other than that it provides one of the man-creeps a whoopsy-doodle run-in with the object of his desire while she is clad only in a towel? Yuggida-yuggida-yuggida.
