Review of Talk to Her (2002) by Matthew F. J — 02 Jan 2014
The stories of two men entertwine as they take care of two women in a coma. A very intelligent and creative screenplay from Almodóvar full of humanity and a taste for the unpredictable twists and turns that life takes even in the most precarious and vulnerable of its conditions.
Though sometimes the filmmaker lets a little too much preciousness spoil its tenderness, Talk to Her manages to remain a tasteful portrayal of human fragility in body and spirit where sadness and beauty as well as an unmissable tinge of quirk that is characteristic of the Spanish filmmaker juxtapose naturally in a visual and narrative sense.
