Review of Talk Radio (1988) by Jeremy B — 12 May 2009
It has that distinct intensity and mesmerizing pacing that saturates oliver stone's movies.
What makes this one of his finest films is that it's one of his most simplistic. one of the last films for stone before his style became a lot more stylistic and sometimes hallucinogenic, this film packs just as much of a punch. a good 80% of the movie takes place on the same set.
It's themes peer into the grotesqueries of human nature with profound insight, while offering up nice portrait of the courage required to fully exercise freedom of speech.
It's another example of how a brilliant and compelling movie can be made without being overtly flashy theatrics, high gloss and high-priced special effects.
