Review of Tales from the Hood (1995) by Sean N — 16 Feb 2009
Whoever wrote the plot summary on here is a very close minded individual. Combining three things I like a lot: Anthologies, Horror, and black people. There's a reason why there's been nothing like this before and after it came out: everyone stopped trying.
The mid 90's were a good time for horror films and this is probably one of the best if not THE best to come out then (next to, in front of or behind 'From Dusk til Dawn'?) It also had the one element most important to a horror film: It was scary but more favorably each story is rich with social commentary from police brutality, child abuse and racism.
Somehow it all fuses together quite nicely and leaves disturbing images in your head.
