Review of Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990) by Devon W — 07 May 2008
Really feels dated, and has silly child-like humor paired with some really gruesome shots. But it works, and is one of the better horror anthology movies available. Slater and Buscemi are a hoot given how young they look, and I didn't even notice Moore! hah.
The first story is great, mostly due to the star power. The second is a riot given the whole 'please whack this cat Mr. Hitman, before it kills me' with a jaw-dropping ending. The third one's pretty bad, but the creature effects and the gore are enough to keep you in.
The wraparoundstory was funny to start with, but felt really silly and disapointing at the end.
