Review of Taking Woodstock (2009) by David L — 16 Oct 2010
The script goes down a few figuritive branches of this majestic tree we know as Woodstock, but even the writers don't seem to know why or what they want to show. Vague on vague. Not awful. Never brilliant. Attains a feeling of quest and rite of passage mildly, but never expresses any of these pillars with lasting poetic gumption.
Still, the one thing likable in a strange way, is how it isn't written like a script, but more like reality, a string of events in a life-changing enigmatic endeavor without the overthought sound bites and crafted life lessons. Wandering freely. In this respect it is a quite non hollywood, somewhat entrepid exercise. Unfortunately it's simply dull.
